MIYOUKI NAKAJIMA - ARTIST
Miyouki NAKAJIMA is a Japanese artist based in Paris. Influenced by a corsage that was put on the “Smoking” of Yves Saint Laurent when she was 15 years old.
she started to learn by herself the techniques of coutured-flowers in 2002. After an experience as a product-director and shop designer of a jewelry brand, she started her carrier as a coutured-flowers artist , launching her own brand “SOIE:LABO” in 2013. She is constantly pursuing the expression of beauty in nature whilst discovering new methods that are not only innovative but also inherent to the traditions. She was once told by the legendary artisan, Mr. Legeron, that this industry is in the course of declination, which made her even more determined to contribute to the preservation of this traditional craftsmanship. Today, not only does she create for decoration, but she also tries to craft coutured-flowers art pieces that allows her to express more freely and to breakaway from its “outmoded” image. Her works, inspired by nature and shaped through the aesthetic sense of distinctive Japanese perspective, has been welcomed with admiration at her exhibitions in Paris in 2018, and was also featured in the PEN International website and the Vogue Paris magazine.
